Steven Okun, Senior Advisor, McLarty Associates

Steven Okun is Senior Advisor for geostrategic consultancy McLarty Associates, and CEO of APAC Advisors, an ESG consultancy which partners with private capital firms.

This is his fourth time elected as Chair of AmCham’s of Asia Pacific, previously serving from 2009-2012). He has been active in American Chambers of Commerce throughout his time in Asia, including serving four terms as Governor of AmCham Singapore, being elected its Chair three times.

In creating and leading KKR’s Asia Pacific Public Affairs from 2011-2017, Steven’s regional leadership focused on KKR’s government relations, communications and ESG initiatives. Prior to joining KKR, he created and led Asia public affairs for global logistics firm UPS (2003-2010), and led their international aviation negotiations team in Washington, DC (1999-2003)..

A member of the Clinton Administration, Steven served as Deputy General Counsel at the Department of Transportation where the Secretary awarded him a Special Service Commendation.

A sought-after expert, he speaks frequently in the media, authors regular commentary and gives speeches and presentation to businesses, universities and at conferences across the region.

Steven is a graduate of the University of Virginia and the University of Virginia School of Law and has lived in Singapore since 2003.
