Greg Wong, Agoda
Greg has a 3-decade long commitment to AmCham. Throughout his prior career as an American diplomat, Greg actively supported American Chambers in Beijing, Hanoi, and Malaysia – and served as ex-officio board member on AmChams in Taiwan, Guangzhou, and Thailand. He also re-established and chaired AmChamIraq. He is currently serving a second term as elected President of AmChamThailand and is an elected Governor to AmCham-Guangzhou.
Greg has extensive experience helping NGO leaders to partner, prosper and innovate. Past and current board service includes Fulbright, Thai Board of Trade, Pearl S. Buck Foundation, Royal Varuna Yacht Club, the Hawaii District Export Council and the Vietnam Tourism Advisory Board.
Greg is currently also Managing Director for Global Affairs at Agoda. Agoda is one of the world’s fastest growing online travel companies, with over 4,000 employees – including offices in every major AmCham market in Asia.
Prior to joining Agoda, Greg was a senior U.S. Diplomat with the rank of Minister Counselor. He served in American Embassies in Bangkok, Hanoi, Beijing, Kuala Lumpur and other global posts. For his pioneering service to advance global commerce, Greg was awarded the Gold Medal – the highest award given by the U.S. Department of Commerce. Greg also owned and operated an import and retail business in Hawaii.
Greg holds an MBA from the University of Hawaii, and an MPA from Harvard University where he was named Littauer Fellow as a top-15 leader in his graduating class.
Greg is from Milwaukee. He is a widower with no children. He loves running, sailing, golf, and supports several micro-loan charitable initiatives across Asia and Africa
